Sam Moyo, was the Founding Executive Director and Trustee of the African Institute for Agrarian Studies (AIAS), Harare, and immediate past President of the Council for the Development of Social Research in Africa (CODESRIA, 2009–11). Professor Moyo passed away in November 2015 following a tragic road accident in New Delhi. Formerly Associate Professor of Agrarian Studies at the University of Zimbabwe and Director of Southern Africa Regional Institute for Policy Studies (SARIPS). He possessed a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) in development studies and environmental management from Newcastle, England.

He was also the Editor in Chief of Agrarian South: Journal of Political Economy (Sage India). He published widely in academic journals and is the author and editor of several books, including:

The land question in Zimbabwe (SAPES, 1995), Land reform under structural adjustment in Zimbabwe (Nordiska Afrikainstitutet, 2000), Reclaiming the land (Zed Books, 2005), African land questions, agrarian transitions and the state (Codesria 2008); Land and sustainable development in Africa (Zed Books, 2008), Reclaiming the nation (Pluto Press, 2011), and The Agrarian Question in the Neoliberal Era (Pambazuka, 2011); Land and Agrarian Reform in Zimbabwe: Beyond White-Settler Capitalism (Dakar, CODESRIA, 2013.

Joshua Nyoni is an Independent Agriculture & Natural Resource Management Consultant with over 30 years’ experience in the sector. Prior to being a consultant, Joshua served at a senior level in the civil service.

Dzodzi Tsikata is a Distinguished Research Professor of Development Studies at SOAS, University of London. Before this, she was Professor of Development Sociology and immediate past Director of the Institute of African Studies (IAS) at the University of Ghana. Her research in the last 30 years has been in the areas of gender and development policies and practices; agrarian change and rural livelihoods; the labour relations of the informal economy and transformative social policy. She is the secretary of the executive committee of IDEAS, a member of the Agrarian South Network and a member of the editorial collectives of Feminist Africa and Agrarian South: Journal of Political Economy.

Prof. Issa Shivji is an Advocate of the High Court and the Court of Appeal of Tanzania as well as an Advocate of the High Court. Prof Shivji is also currently an Emeritus Professor at Faculty of Law, University of Dar Es Salaam and has over three decades of research and lecturing at the same University.

Praveen is a Professor of Economics and Chairperson at Centre for Economic Studies and Planning School of Social Sciences, JNU, India. Prof Jha’s research focus is on Labour Economics, Agricultural economics, Development economics, Public Finance, Economics of education, History of Economic Thought. He is one of the leading experts on labour in the world.

Professor Paris Yeros is a political economist and international relations scholar with over 27 publications in peer-reviewed journals and books. His work has focused on the comparative agrarian reform experiences in Africa and Latin America. He obtained his doctorate from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2002.

Is a research Professor at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana. Kojo’s is widely published and researched in areas such as land, forestry, environmental management and rural livelihoods areas which he has widely published on

Masego is a social and economic justice warrior with over 20 years’ experience. She is a Director Environment Programme at Oak Foundation, where she is responsible for ensuring that the programme strategy continues to evolve by, managing the Environment Programme Team, overseeing grant portfolio, strategic communication with partners and advisory role to Trustees. Her passion is driving work that demonstrates the interdependence between democracy, economic development and human rights. She holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science from the Rhodes University and is at the tail end of completing the MPhil in Development Policy and Practice with the University of Cape Town. Masego was selected to be a part of the Aspen Institute New Voices Fellowship class of 2020.

Sit Tsui is Associate Professor at The Institute of Rural Reconstruction of China, Southwest University, Chongqing, China. She is one of the founding members of the Global University for Sustainability. Her research areas include globalization, rural reconstruction, and cultural studies. She is Associate coordinator of a development organization, China Social Services and Development Research Centre (CSD).
